Iowa's award-winning short line railroad for rail freight.

100 miles of track. Connections to the continent.

CRANDIC Rail — historically known as the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City Railway — has been moving freight between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City for more than 120 years. Our 60 miles of main line — plus 40 miles of yard trackage — connect some of Iowa's largest manufacturers, processors, and agricultural operations to the national rail network. Through direct interchange with Union Pacific, Canadian National, and Iowa Interstate, CRANDIC Rail gives Iowa shippers access to the entire continental United States, Mexico, and Canada. We operate 365 days a year, with competitive pricing and the personalized service a short line delivers that a Class I never will. For Iowa shippers, that means a short line railroad relationship with direct access to Class I rail networks.

Your Iowa connection to North America.

One handoff. Three Class I railroads. Wherever they go, your freight goes.

CRANDIC Rail interchanges directly with Union Pacific, Canadian National, and Iowa Interstate — three of the most far-reaching rail networks on the continent. Whether your rail freight is moving to a Gulf Coast port, a Canadian distribution center, or a manufacturing facility in the Midwest, CRANDIC Rail gets it onto the right network from the start. No unnecessary transfers. No intermediate handling. Just a direct, reliable connection from your Iowa facility to wherever the load needs to go.

120 years on the same track.

Same people. Same promise. For over a century.

Since 1904, CRANDIC Rail has served the corridor between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City — and the Iowa businesses that call it home. In our second century of service, we're still here: same dedicated team, same commitment to keeping Iowa freight moving. Travero brought CRANDIC Rail a stronger network and new capabilities. The relationship, the reliability, and the people haven't changed.
