The challenge
Supporting electric distribution often means the only certainty is volatility. Increases in demand happen unpredictably and require fast reaction times, often in remote areas with roads that are barely accessible. Specialized equipment like piping, utility poles and transformers require transportation by flatbed truck, which raises its own challenges—finding reliable drivers willing to meet the client’s needs in driving rain or 110-degree heat is a big one.

The solution
Travero stepped in as a temporary solution when the company’s driver shortage became overwhelming. What started as a stopgap measure has since become a very successful strategic partnership. Our team oversees a variety of runs—some special projects, hourly shuttles, power-only moves, milk runs, long haul—a wide range of transportation needs that requires a dedicated fleet of 3 to 5 drivers to address daily.

In addition to ensuring reliable drivers, a key component of our strategy was to work with an hourly rate to keep the client’s costs low. The large, unwieldy specialty equipment not only requires flatbed trailers, it also requires exceptionally resilient and committed drivers. This was one of the client’s biggest freight challenges before starting a partnership with Travero. While they had the trucks and trailers they needed, they struggled to find drivers willing to load their flatbeds when the weather was uncooperative. Harsh weather conditions meant shipping stalled and caused operational delays to both the client and the customers they served.

Driver reliability ceased to be a problem for them ever since they started working with the Travero team. Between our stringent screening process and the long-term relationship we establish with our carriers, our clients get committed, trustworthy drivers who move their freight no matter the challenges.

After hiring Travero to fill an urgent driver shortage, the client has come to rely on our partnership through wide-ranging runs that don’t necessarily follow a schedule and send drivers out in sometimes harsh weather conditions to extremely remote areas.
